FTEA (Friends for Therapeutic Equine Activities)

FTEA is an organization that teaches disabled participants how to ride and interact with horses.  As a volunteer, I ensure the participants ride safely during their lessons, clean the barn and stalls, groom the horses, feed the horses, and help at events.  I've been volunteering at FTEA since June 2019 and I continue to volunteer at similar organizations during my years at college.

Friends for Therapeutic Equine Activities (FTEA) is a not-for-profit, 501(c) (3) charitable organization founded for the express purpose of providing therapeutic equestrian activities for people with disabilities. The majority of FTEA program participants come to FTEA as individuals from the surrounding community.  FTEA is unique in providing individualized horseback activities assisted by certified staff and trained volunteers for people of all ages who have a wide range of disabilities. FTEA staff members focus on participants’ abilities rather than disabilities in a safe and enjoyable environment. FTEA is located in Wayne, IL a western suburb of Chicago.
